December 6, 2008 "We miss Mustard"

Ok, let me preface this story by saying that I take full responsibility for today's events. That being said, I did expect to get some help so that it wouldn't be as horrible as it was. Let me explain. We had an appointment this morning to have holiday portraits taken at a department store studio (I won't name names). We have been going to this studio for a while because our good friend, Mustard, worked there (no that's not her real name, but she knows who she is). Anyway, Mustard left the studio for better opportunities, and gave me the names of a few good photographers at the studio. So I called and made an appointment and was happy to hear that one of the ladies Mustard suggested was working today. But, sad to say, when we got there, we got stuck with the one lady Mustard did not suggest. I have personally dealt with this lady on the phone a few times and she's not the sharpest tool in the shed. And on top of that, she doesn't relate well to children. Especially those who are hungry, tired and cutting their 2 year molars. So, Keegan started screaming and crying the second she called us back. And instead of giving me a minute to calm him down, she just starts snapping pictures. We were so rushed that the first few pictures had Keira's hat over her eyes and she didn't even bother to tell us. To make a long story short, we went in to get pictures of the kids, and ended up with one semi-decent picture of the 4 of us, several pictures of Keira not smiling, and we had to crop Keegan's head out of the family photo to make an individual picture because the lady wouldn't take any of him. WE MISS MUSTARD!! I think the worst part was when I had to pick which pictures to go in the holiday cards. I mean, I had to pick SOMETHING. So we had to crop and cut here and there to make it work. I guess next time I should go into it expecting the worst, then I won't be so dissappointed.
